“BURNING RAIN” is a fresh take on the dystopian genre. Ryanne “Rain” Douglas is a teenage girl facing danger in a dystopian world.

So what’s fresh? It’s not her world. She’s a regular kid from suburban America. African American, living with her Scottish adoptive father, Rain was happy, plugged into life. Her happy comes to an abrupt end one Monday morning when rulers of a galaxy-wide Empire blackmail her into entering the biggest spectacle in the Universe, a race packed with nightmare creatures genetically designed to hunt and kill her. Rain doesn’t think much of her chances, but she’s tough, resilient, and quick-witted.

And when she is joined in the race by a dragon, a dragon who was her best friend in stories her father made up when she was a little kid, things start to change. Together, they discover they share a connection that stretches across the galaxy, and they start to defy the odds.

Surviving the race is still a very long shot. But don’t bet against her.
